There are colors and numbers on container chemical labels which may not be understood. In addition to the original container labels, the N.E.P.A. (National Fire Protection Association) uses a diamond-shaped, four-section, color-coded system to easily identify labels in an emergency. This system is designed to aid firefighters at the scene of a chemical fire in quickly identifying the hazards. OSHA and NIOSH have approved the scale for warning labels to read Caution, Warning and Danger. This program discusses the meaning of the four sections of the diamond-shaped warning symbol and their ratings.
